Seventy percent of women bearing PCOS are obese; adiponectin and TNFα, as obesity markers, have a dual role in the sensitivity and action of insulin. Adiponectin (insulin sensitising) decreases, whereas, TNFα, IL6 (negative regulators of insulin pathway) increases in obese-women.
